Non-study abroad international travel

Students travel abroad for a variety of reasons outside of studying abroad! Some go on club trips to other countries or travel to present research at a conference. Some students take an internship abroad or travel to a competition. Any AU sponsored international travel that students undertake, whether that be something that is arranged through an AU club, an internship you'll receive credit for, or even just a trip promoted through AU, needs to be approved though.

As soon as you know you or your group will be traveling abroad for AU sponsored travel, make sure to reach out to the Education Abroad office at studyabroad@alfred.edu. If the trip is something you'll be promoting to the campus community, reach out before you do any promotion to ensure that the location and program will be approved. Once you've contacted the office, the next step is to set up a meeting to go over the details of the program and talk through the necessary requirements. Please also fill out the below proposal form before coning in for the meeting.

If you have any questions about whether or not your trip would fall under this policy, please reach out to the Education Abroad office as well and thank you!
